A dentist for nervous patients in West London

If the thought of a dental chair makes your stomach drop, you are in the right place. Nothing happens here until you are ready for it to.

You are not the only one

Around one in three adults is anxious about the dentist and one in ten avoids going altogether. Many of our most loyal patients arrived after ten, twenty or thirty years away, usually because something finally hurt too much to ignore. Every one of them was worried about being judged. None of them were.

Dr Hamssa Mansour holds a Master’s in Special Care Dentistry from UCL Eastman and is certified by the Dental Phobia Foundation. Making dentistry easier for people who find it hard is the reason she went into the profession.

How we work with anxiety

Your first appointment can simply be a conversation in the chair, or not in the chair, with nothing done. We agree a stop signal before we begin and honour it every time. We explain each step before it happens, use topical gel before injections, and go slowly. If a specific thing bothers you, the sound of the drill, the feeling of numbness, the smell, tell us and we will work around it.

Treatment is broken into short, manageable visits, and we book long enough appointments that nobody is rushing. Evening and weekend slots mean you can come when the practice is quieter.

FAQs

Nervous patients: your questions answered.

I haven’t been for 20 years. Will my teeth be a disaster?

Possibly not. Many long-term avoiders are surprised how little needs doing. And if there is a lot, we will make a calm plan and take it one step at a time.

Do you offer sedation?

We will discuss sedation options with you where it is appropriate. For most patients, the gentle approach alone is enough.

Can I bring someone with me?

Of course. A friend or family member is welcome in the room.
