Who we are
Shirland Dental Practice, 142 Shirland Road, London W9 2BT, is the data controller for the personal information we hold about you. You can contact us about data protection at contact@shirlanddentalpractice.co.uk or on 020 7289 3120.
What we collect and why
To provide dental care we keep your name, contact details, date of birth, medical history, clinical notes, radiographs and photographs, and records of appointments and payments. We process this information under the lawful bases of providing healthcare (Article 9(2)(h) UK GDPR), performing our contract with you, and our legitimate interests in running the practice. We are required by the General Dental Council and the Care Quality Commission to keep accurate clinical records.
When you contact us through this website we collect the details you give us (name, phone, email and your message) solely to respond to your enquiry.
Who we share it with
We share information only where necessary for your care or where the law requires it: with dental laboratories and specialists involved in your treatment, with your GP or hospital where clinically relevant, with finance providers if you apply for a payment plan, with our IT and practice-management suppliers under data-processing agreements, and with regulators or the courts when legally obliged. We never sell your data.
How long we keep it
Clinical records are retained for a minimum of 11 years after your last treatment, or until age 25 for children, in line with NHS and professional guidance. Website enquiries are deleted within 12 months if you do not become a patient.
Your rights
You can ask to see the information we hold, have inaccuracies corrected, request erasure where the law allows, object to certain processing, and complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk). Contact us using the details above to exercise any of these rights.
