Children who visit the dentist early grow up unafraid of it. We make the first visits easy, the prevention thorough, and the whole thing rather fun.

Starting early
We like to see children by their first birthday, or when the first tooth appears. Early visits are short and gentle: a ride in the chair, a count of the teeth, a sticker. The aim is familiarity, so that by the time anything needs doing the dentist is a friend, not a threat. Studies consistently show that children who start young are far less likely to be anxious as adults.
Prevention that works
Fluoride varnish painted onto the teeth twice a year strengthens enamel and cuts decay significantly. Fissure sealants fill the deep grooves of the back teeth where toothbrushes cannot reach. Both are quick and painless. We also check how the adult teeth and jaws are developing so that crowding or bite problems can be spotted early, when they are simplest to correct.
Dr Hamssa Mansour has a particular interest in dentistry for children with additional needs and volunteers every year at a special needs school. Children who find new places difficult are especially welcome.

We are a private practice. Children’s check-ups are from £45 and fillings from £55, and most children who see us regularly never need one.
