Visiting us
Where are your practices?
We have two: Maida Vale at 142 Shirland Road, London W9 2BT, and Queen’s Park at 48 Salusbury Road, London NW6 6NN. Both are a short walk from Bakerloo line stations.
What are your opening hours?
Monday to Friday 9am–8pm, Saturday 9am–5pm and Sunday 9am–4pm. We are one of very few practices in London open seven days a week.
How do I become a patient?
Book online, call 020 7289 3120, or pop into either practice. There is no registration fee and you do not need to be referred.
Do you see NHS patients?
Shirland Dental is a private practice. We keep fees fair, publish them in full, and offer monthly payment plans and 0% finance on larger treatments.
Is the practice wheelchair accessible?
Yes. We have a wheelchair ramp and an accessible toilet. Please let us know in advance if there is anything else we can do to make your visit easier.
Do you speak languages other than English?
Yes. Both our receptionists and several clinicians speak Arabic, and Mr Aldaadaa also speaks German and French.
What should I do if I am nervous?
Tell us. Being anxious about the dentist is very common and we are set up for it. Your first visit can be a conversation only, and Dr Mansour is certified by the Dental Phobia Foundation. See our nervous patients page for how we work.
Costs & payment
How much is a check-up?
An adult examination including x-rays is from £86.63. Children aged 1–12 are from £45. All our fees are published on the fees page.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes. We offer patient payment plans tailored to you, and 0% interest-free finance on treatments such as Invisalign and implants, so you can spread the cost monthly.
Will I know the cost before treatment?
Always. You receive a written, itemised treatment plan before anything begins, and we never add work without discussing it with you first.
Treatments
What are dental implants and how do they work?
A dental implant is a titanium post placed into the jaw to replace a missing tooth root. Once the bone has bonded to it, a crown is fixed on top. The result looks, feels and works like a natural tooth. Ours are placed by a specialist oral surgeon.
How long do dental implants last?
With good care, 20 years or a lifetime. Over 95% of modern implants last many years with the right maintenance.
Is Invisalign really invisible?
Nearly. The aligners are clear and trimmed to your gum line, so most people will not notice them even up close.
Is teeth whitening safe?
Yes, when carried out by a registered dental professional using regulated products. We check your teeth are healthy first and use low-sensitivity formulas.
How long does whitening last?
One to three years depending on diet and habits. Enlighten recommends top-ups: every two months in year one, every three months in year two, and every six months in year three.
What is root canal treatment and why might I need it?
Root canal treatment saves a tooth whose nerve has become infected through decay, injury or a crack. The infected tissue is removed, the inside cleaned and sealed, and the tooth restored. It relieves pain and keeps your natural tooth.
When is a tooth extraction necessary?
When a tooth is too decayed, damaged or loose to save, or when a wisdom tooth is impacted or repeatedly infected. Our extractions are carried out by a consultant oral surgeon.
After an extraction
Will I be in pain after an extraction?
Some discomfort and swelling is normal, usually worst for the first three days and settling within two weeks. Ordinary painkillers are usually enough; if antibiotics are prescribed, finish the course.
Can I eat or drink after an extraction?
Wait until the numbness has worn off, then eat on the other side. For the first 12 hours avoid hot drinks, which can disturb the clot, and stick to warm liquids and soft foods.
Can I smoke or drink alcohol after an extraction?
Please avoid both for at least 24 hours. Smoking in particular slows healing and can cause the socket to start bleeding.
How do I look after the socket?
Keep the area clean but do not rinse vigorously or poke the site for the first day. From day two, gentle warm salt-water rinses after meals help healing. Call us if pain worsens after day three rather than improving.
