What a dental implant actually is

A dental implant is a small titanium post placed into the jawbone where the root of a missing tooth used to be. Over a few months the bone fuses to it, a process called osseointegration, and it becomes as stable as a natural root. A custom crown is then fixed on top.

The result looks, feels and works like your own tooth. You eat what you like, brush as normal, and nobody can tell. Unlike a bridge, nothing is done to the healthy teeth either side. Unlike a denture, nothing moves.

Our implants are placed by Mr Alaa Aldaadaa, a GDC-registered Specialist Oral Surgeon who holds a PhD in 3D craniofacial reconstruction and bone regeneration from UCL Eastman, alongside MOralSurg from the Royal College of Surgeons and a Certificate in Implant Dentistry. He also holds a consultant appointment at King’s College Hospital.
