Cosmetic bonding is one of the most popular
treatments here at Shirland Dental Practice.

This simple treatment can transform your smile by fixing misaligned, cracked, worn or discoloured teeth. A strong white composite material is used to improve the shape of the affected teeth. The process involves a high level of artistic skill and the correct amount and colour of dental composite.

Cosmetic bonding is an alternative to porcelain veneers and
is the least invasive of all cosmetic dental procedures.

Our Principal Dentist, Dr Hamssa Mansour, has the skills required for intricate veneering and tooth sculpting and has extensive experience in cosmetic bonding.

What will happen at my appointment?

Your teeth do not normally need to be prepared and anaesthetic is not usually necessary.

We start by selecting the colour of the composite resin to be used. The tooth surface is then lightly etched which helps the composite resin to bond to the tooth. Next, the resin is placed on the tooth and your dentist sculpts the resin to the desired shape. It is then treated with ultraviolet light that activates the bonding. It usually takes about an hour to complete the procedure.

How long will cosmetic bonding last?

Many people can go for ten or fifteen years and have the bonding look as good as the day it was put in. On the other hand, some people will get staining on the margins of the bonding after a few years and will need some touch-up work.

Dental bonding is not as strong as your own natural tooth. Biting your fingernails or biting on hard foods and substances can chip the bonding. How long it actually lasts depends on how well you look after your cosmetic bonding and your other teeth. Regular dental check-ups will help.

My experience with this practice has been nothing but exceptional. The receptionist Connor is nothing but friendly and tries to accommodate my busy diary where possible. Dr Hamsa the owner has a friendly and reassuring approach. Big.shout to Ben who gave me two fillings and has saved me from root canal. The hygienist with a deep clean, my gums and teeth have never looked so clean. From fearing the dentist with bad childhood experiences, I feel much more relaxed and at ease with this practice.

From the minute I walked in to Shirland Dental Practice to the moment I left, it was a 5 star experience. Being of an anxious and nervous disposition this is by far one of the best experiences I have had with a dentist. Upon entering I was welcomed by the receptionist Maria who was warm, lovely and very welcoming - Maria made me feel at ease straight away! I next had a consultation with Dr Hamsa Mansour who is experienced and knowledgeable, Dr Hamsa fully explained what I needed to have done and also reassured me that the work would be only what is critically needed, not like previous consultations I have had in the past where the dentist has carried out unnecessary work. When I came back for my dental work appointment, this was carried out by both Dr Hamsa and Dr Leda, the work carried out was professional, straightforward, quick and pain free. Never thought I would say this but I am looking forward to my next appointment already! Highly recommended – if you are unsure about where to go for your dental work pop in and have a chat with the team and I am sure you will be as delighted as I am!

New Dental Practice in Queens Park you didn’t know you needed.Staff are warm, friendly and welcoming.The decor is so inviting and relaxing. The patient bathroom has the wow effect, yes gets a 👍🏾 up from me. It’s almost worthy of the obligatory bathroom selfie 😁, I however resisted.State of the art equipment even got a scan of my teeth ( that was amazing).But… back to what I went in for, a dental check up. Dr Ben was nothing short of fantastic. Very calming in his demeanour, he made you feel relaxed instantly. Great service, very reassuring, explained in detail (plain English) what he was going to do, why and what was needed. I got a clean bill of Dental Health 💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽.I definitely recommend a visit.

I don't always leave reviews but felt compelled to say that Shirland dental practice is one or the best I have been to over the years. Dr Hamsa in the practice have been superb kind and caring. Of course, she is always busy with patients, but she makes sure all her work is done to patients' expectation or even better. She is gentle and excellent at her job. Highly recommended.
