01 Proof first

A Shirland patient. Before, and after. Drag it.

Every case in our gallery is a Shirland patient, photographed at the practice. Nothing is stock, nothing is a manufacturer’s library shot and nothing is retouched — the lighting is the same in both frames, which is the only way a before and after means anything.

More real results
Reception at Shirland Dental Practice: panelled walls, a brass arc lamp over a round mirror, a shelf with a plant, and the street door beyond
Inside

It was designed not to feel like a dentist.

Panelled walls, brass, a warm line of light along the skirting and a shelf with a plant on it. No strip lighting, no rows of moulded chairs, none of the smell people brace themselves for on the way in.

That matters more than it sounds. A good part of dental anxiety is the room itself, and a room you would happily sit in changes how the appointment starts.

More about the practice
The waiting alcove at Shirland Dental Practice, with floral wallpaper, white panelling, a round brass mirror and a wall clock
The wait

There is a clock. Nobody watches it.

We book longer appointments than most practices and we run to them, so the alcove is usually quiet. If we are running behind, someone will tell you why rather than leave you guessing at it.

Nothing gets decided in a hurry either. You see your own x-rays on screen, hear what we would treat and what we would leave alone, and take a written plan away before anything is booked.

What happens on a first visit
A sign reading Wizards Welcome, Muggles Tolerated beside an ivy-covered window in the children's room at the Queen's Park practice
The children’s room, Queen’s Park.
Queen’s Park

And at Salusbury Road, a room with a sorting hat in it.

The children’s room at our Queen’s Park practice has wisteria across the ceiling, lanterns on the brickwork, wands on the wall and a sorting hat that lives on the chair. The sign by the door reads Wizards Welcome, Muggles Tolerated.

It is not decoration for its own sake. Children who have somewhere they actually want to go back to stop dreading the appointment, and the argument on the doorstep stops with it.

02 Open when London isn’t

Seventy-one hours a week. Sundays included.

Most practices close at five and never open at the weekend. We are open until 8pm on weekdays, all day Saturday and Sunday, and keep emergency slots every single day. Bring the kids after school. Come on a Sunday morning. Nobody has to take time off work for a check-up.

Said about us, in public.

I have a phobia of dentists having not gone for 33 years. Dr Mansour really put my mind at rest and gave good advice. Amazingly my teeth are in good shape. I’m not really into writing reviews and this is my first one on Google, but I highly recommend Shirland Dental Practice.
CChris P · Nervous patient
Dr Mansour has a wonderful chair-side manner and is always reassuring and considerate. As someone who dreaded visiting the dentist for years, I can recommend her to any of my fellow dental-phobics. She does excellent work but it’s her professionalism and warmth that sets her apart.

Honestly the best dental practice I have ever been to. Everyone was so friendly and talked me through the procedures and my x-rays. I would be happy to go back weekly if that wasn’t so weird (and thankfully not necessary).

Open at weekends! The staff and location are fantastic. The most impressive dental service in the area.

An honest and caring dentist! A welcome change from my previous experience. Everything was explained clearly before work was done and the cost was outlined also. I would recommend anyone come here as they are very friendly. Thank you Hamssa!
